Starfield fans are terrified about massive Day One patch

In space no one can hear you scream about patches

Starfield fans are already expressing serious concern that the open-world sci-fi RPG will require a hefty day one patch.

Day one patches are, sadly, an increasingly common occurrence for major releases. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor required a huge update on release for certain platforms, while Fallout 76 - the last game from Bethesda Softworks - had a day one patch that was bigger than the actual game. You can see why Starfield fans are a little on edge, then.

Take a look at Starfield in action below!

Starfield is already available to download (but not play) for Xbox Game Pass subscribers and people who have pre-ordered the game, but it recently emerged that everyone else will be able to pre-download the RPG from 9 August. Given the game clocks in at a hefty 125GB, that's good news for everyone who wants to be able to play the game come 6 September.

Except, of course, there's the looming threat of a day one update that could derail all of our best laid plans. To be very clear, there's currently no word of a day one patch for Starfield from Bethesda. But looking at the majority of modern AAA releases, fans are braced for the worst.

Over on the Starfield subreddit fans are debating how likely a day one patch is. While some are expecting at least an extra 50GB update, others have pointed out that Starfield's 12 month delay, along with Bethesda's assurance that this is the least buggy game they've ever released, is a positive sign.

Anyway, while we all wait patiently for Starfield why not take a look at all of the incredible things that have already been confirmed for the game. Just this week, Bethesda teased an ‘astonishing’ number of side quests. We also know the game has over 1,000 planets to explore, various factions and branching paths and an incredible awesome space samurai class to play as.
