Steam users can try a new and upcoming Animal Crossing-inspired game for free right now!

It’s another day, which means that it’s another freebie and fans of the social simulator genre are in for a treat.

As of late, we’ve been seeing a lot of freebies appear on the Steam store for PC, whether it be free-to-play games, full releases with a 100% discount or even those via early access beta. Either way, we’re happy to claim some free gaming goodness.

Developed by Prideful Sloth, the free Animal Crossing-inspired game in question is called Go-Go Town!, and you can try the game for free by signing up for the upcoming playtest.

“Plan, Build...Prosper? As mayor, it’s up to you to breathe life back into this rundown town. Construct shops, hire staff, automate deliveries with couriers, and attract tourists to town, all while managing infrastructure and avoiding catastrophes! Who said being mayor was going to be easy…,” reads the synopsis.

In Go-Go Town! you work your own hours, being your own boss and living the good life crafting, building and repairing, while making new friends until your heart is content.

So how do you sign up for the playtest I hear you ask? Well, that is simple. Just visit the Go-Go Town! website and sign up for its newsletter. By plonking in your email address, not only will you keep up to date with the latest news on the game, but you’ll also have a chance to participate in the upcoming playtest today on 3 July 2023.

Go-Go Town! will be released in its full form sometime in 2024 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Obviously, when the full game is released, it will have a yet-to-be-determined, RRP.

In related news, another Animal Crossing-inspired game from the Genshin Impact studio miHoYo is reportedly in the works, and an Animal Crossing: New Horizons gamer lost their 500-hour island, but there was a happy ending at least.
