Stranger Things Creators Announce Live-Action Death Note Series

I don’t think many people would argue with me if I made the claim that Stranger Things 4 is the show’s best season yet. When Vol. 1 debuted just a few weeks ago, it broke numerous Netflix records. In its first weekend alone, 286.79 hours of the series were watched across the globe.

Thanks to the release of Vol. 2, Stranger Things 4 has now racked up over one billion viewing hours in its first 28 days on Netflix, sitting only behind Squid Game. Unsurprisingly then, the show’s creators the Duffer brothers are going to be in hot demand, and they’re now working on a major adaptation.

Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil series hits the platform on 14 July. Check out the trailer below.

The Duffer brothers have officially confirmed that they’ll be working on a live-action Death Note series after launching their brand new production company Upside Down Pictures. You may notice the Stranger Things reference in the company title but rest assured. The Duffer brothers plan on working on a variety of projects with Netflix - although a Stranger Things spin-off is in the works too.

I’m sure you already know but for those of you who don’t, Death Note is a popular Japanese manga that follows the story of a teenager who finds a mysterious notebook which grants him the ability to kill anyone whose name is written in its pages.

Back in 2017, Netflix created a live-action Death Note film but it didn’t exactly go down well with fans. The location was transported from Japan to Seattle, Washington, but many criticised the film for being rushed.

Details are thin on the ground about the Duffer brothers adaptation but given that Netflix are seemingly ready to move on from their previous version, we can assume that this live-action series will be more faithful to the original manga and anime. We hope so anyway.
