Terminator open-world horror in development

Nacon is set to lift the lid on its open-world Terminator game very soon.

If you’ve totally forgotten that an open-world Terminator game is in development, I could hardly blame you. The project was announced by Nacon back in July 2022. Well, 18 months on, they’re finally set to lift the lid on the game once more.

At this point in time, all we really know is that the project is set to lean into the horror genre, but we should learn more thanks to the upcoming Nacon Connect. As reported by IGN, Nacon is set to hold its latest showcase on 29 February where it will share information on several upcoming titles including Ravenswatch, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Greedfall 2, and the aforementioned Terminator project.

Take a look at the Terminator project’s original teaser trailer below.

“The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic open world and features an original story that builds on the events of the official films,” a press release reads. “You play as a group of nuclear apocalypse survivors fighting to stay alive in a time period between Judgment Day and the creation of John Connor's resistance.” It’s a great premise and hopefully one that Nacon can deliver on. I hate to bring it up but, yes, Nacon did also publish The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The less said about that, the better.

It’s been quite some time since a Terminator game landed in our laps. The last was Terminator: Resistance in 2019 which, with a Metacritic score of just 47, didn’t go over all that well. Let’s hope that this next effort proves to be a tad more successful. I should also point out that we don’t yet know the game’s official title, but hopefully the Nacon Connect will clear that up.

It’s an exciting time in the industry. Before the Nacon Connect next week, we’ve got a Nintendo Partner Direct today as well as the premiere of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s first trailer. Plenty of reveals for us to sit back and enjoy.
