The Callisto Protocol takes shot at Gotham Knights, confirms 60fps on console

Following news that Gotham Knights is locked to 30fps on consoles, it's been confirmed that The Callisto Protocol will include a 60fps mode.

In case you were blissfully unaware, some gamers were very disappointed recently when it was revealed that Gotham Knights, the upcoming open-world action RPG starring Batgirl, Robin, Red Hood and Nightwing, is locked to 30fps on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Despite many new-gen games offering the option to choose between juicy visuals and a smoother frame rate in the settings (with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Horizon Forbidden West being just two examples), Gotham Knights has seemingly opted to forgo this altogether.

Check out some gameplay footage from Gotham Knights below.

Fleur Marty, an executive producer at WB Games Montreal, pointed out that game does support untethered co-op play, so extra players can venture as far away from their host as they want and explore the world with no barriers. Regardless of this though, some people weren’t happy, prompting some to cancel their preorders altogether. Now, the people behind Striking Distance Studios’ upcoming horror title, The Callisto Protocol, have seemingly weighed in on the situation, with a not-so-subtle brag about their own game’s performance.

"We would love to inform you all that we will be shipping globally on December 2nd,” the official Callisto Protocol Twitter account posted. “And yes, we'll have a 60 FPS performance mode.”

The Callisto Protocol is probably the least cheery game we have hitting us this holiday season. In case you were unaware, the game’s director, Glen Schofield (who also co-created the Dead Space series), previously claimed that the title will be “the single most scariest game for PC and consoles”. It was also revealed that the developers studied “real-life examples of horror and gore” as part of their research.

“While these were a lot less fun to research, it was some of the most memorable and valuable content when it came to creating realistic visuals and experiences,” Striking Distance Studios chief creative officer Chris Stone said in an interview with PCGamesN.
