The Elder Scrolls fans need little excuse to get excited about the beloved RPG franchise from Bethesda but an upcoming major announcement has gotten adoring fans extra hyped.
The Elder Scrolls series is one of the longest-running in the video game industry. Since its inception in 1994, the Bethesda fantasy RPG series has gone from strength to strength with every release. The last numbered entry is the legendary The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which initially launched in 2011 before being ported to multiple platforms over the years, and is still keeping fans entertained to this very day.

The next entry in the series is The Elder Scrolls VI which was first announced at E3 in 2018. However, since that announcement nearly six years ago, we’ve heard very little about the RPG leaving fans concerned about The Elder Scrolls VI, even though we recently learned that the game is playable right now, for some.

Thankfully, while we wait for more The Elder Scrolls VI information, the likes of Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls Online have enough content to keep us busy, and it's the latter of which that is today’s topic of discussion following Bethesda’s 10th-anniversary announcement with an event being livestreamed via Twitch in the coming days.
“It’s ESO’s 10th birthday and all of Tamriel is invited! Enjoy this year’s Jubilee Cake masterpiece, bonus XP, and a bounty of birthday boons. Join the fun as we celebrate 10 years together,” tweeted The Elder Scrolls Online Twitter account.
Following that announcement, fans replied with comments such as “My favourite video game!” by MCavacini. “I’m excited to jump back in!” said BnBriTV with much of the Twitter thread sharing similar excitement.

As detailed on ESO.com, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls Online, not only can fans play the game for free until April 9th, but they can also look forward to rewards, developer insight, giveaways and lore galore during the event. There will also be a cosplay contest, panels for tabletop gaming, actors, the community and much more. We’ll even be treated to a live performance by Trivium’s Matthew K. Heafy.
The 10th-anniversary event will begin on 5 April and will take place over two days. Yet with all that being said, as exciting as this event might be, it would be wise to curb our enthusiasm when it comes to The Elder Scrolls VI, as I very much doubt Bethesda will be making any new announcements on the highly anticipated RPG in the coming days.
Hopefully, Bethesda will put us all out of our misery soon by giving us a concrete update on The Elder Scrolls VI this year, perhaps a release date or even gameplay, as wishful thinking as that might be.
