An R-rated, Black Label Batman story, Batman: City Of Madness has been announced, releases later this year.
There’s been a number of weird and wonderful DC stories about Batman over the years. We’ve seen the world’s greatest detective in a never-ending battle with his rogues gallery, travel the multiverse meeting his alternate selves, battle Aliens and Predators, and even go head-to-head with Dracula.

However a new Batman story aims to bring the dark knight and his beloved Gotham City into the world of cosmic horror, with Batman: City Of Madness, by writer and artist Christian Ward.

The story will take Batman into an even more warped version of Gotham, that exists underneath the city. It’s been described as a "living nightmare, populated by twisted mirrors of Gotham's denizens, fueled by the fear and hatred flowing down from above." Apparently the alternate version of the city was guarded by The Court Of Owls, a fan-favourite Batman antagonist, who failed to keep the nightmare hidden, unleashing an evil version of the caped crusader.

Batman will apparently have to team up with the Court Of Owls to stop the threat, and save the city from himself, as well as twisted versions of his most popular, and dangerous, villains.
Speaking about the story, Ward said: “My new book from @DCOfficial - a dream come true my cosmic horror Batman story - Batman: City of Madness a 3 prestige 48 page issue mini series written and drawn by me - out October”
He went on to say “City of Madness is my love letter to Batman and a pseudo sequel to Arkham Asylum: Serious House on a Serious Earth and I have absolutely not come to play.”
The first issue of Batman: City Of Madness, will release on the 10th of October later this year.
