Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham officially announced in gorgeous new trailer

A Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham comic book series has officially been announced in a gorgeous new trailer.

This year’s San Diego Comic Con has only just kicked off and it’s already treating us well when it comes to announcements.

Yesterday, Insomniac Games and Sony held their Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 panel ahead of the game’s release on 20 October. The teams revealed a brand new Spidey themed PlayStation 5 console and accessories inspired by the threat of Venom and the symbiote. If you’re looking to make the hop over to PlayStation 5 to play the game, this may just be the best bundle deal out there. With panels from The Walking Dead, Twisted Metal, Star Wars Outlaws still on the way, we should receive plenty more juicy news before the week is out. Notably, there’s no Hall H Marvel panel this year. Over at the DC Comics panel though, a new Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham series was unveiled - and it looks great.

Speaking of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, check out the brand new story trailer.

The upcoming four issue Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham series has been teased since December of last year and now, as reported by ComicBook, it’s finally received its full reveal. There will be four issues, released bi-monthly, and the series comes from Rafael Grampá. It’ll be released under the adult-oriented Black Label, so you should expect a suitably mature Batman story.

The first issue will launch on 16 September, which just so happens to be Batman Day, in North America, Brazil, Spain, Italy, and Germany. There are several variant covers, with artists including Jim Lee, Frank Miller and David Finch. There’s also a one-in-50 variant cover by Priscilla Petraites and a one-in-100 variant cover by Paul Pope. I know fans will be eager to nab those ones. Take a look at the new trailer below.

In the series, Batman decides to kill off living as Bruce Wayne for good - instead, going full time as Gotham’s Dark Knight as the city continues to descend into chaos. A serial killer is on the loose but as Batman chases them down, he soon reveals all the victims link back to him. Add in an all-new rogues gallery and Batman (and Gotham) may have bitten off more than they can chew. Intrigued? I know I am.
