Christopher Judge needs to play Darkseid in new DC universe, fans agree

God-tier casting, right there.

American actor Christopher Judge is, simply put, a legend. Although he’s been appearing in films since the 90s, most gamers probably know him best as the voice and motion capture actor for Kratos in God of War (2018) and its sequel, Ragnarök.

There’s no denying that Judge has played a massive part in making the two most recent God of War games as spectacular as they are - he won the award for Best Performance at The Game Awards 2022 for his role in Ragnarök, which speaks for itself. However, fans have their hearts set on the actor bagging a huge role in the DC universe.

Take a look at a compilation of every time Kratos says “boy” in God of War (2018) below.

“Always thought Christopher Judge was a shoo-in for Darkseid. Deep voice, broad chin, and even his Teal'c poses Apokoliptian godlike at times,” Reddit user Pamsoroyi wrote, making reference to Judge’s character in Stargate SG-1.

“Hope this becomes true someday,” MotorVirus replied. User Mango424 pointed out that if it ever did happen, it wouldn’t actually be Judge's first role in a DC movie: “He also had a tiny role in The Dark Knight Rises - he was one of Bane's henchmen,” they commented.

When Darkseid appeared in Zack Snyder's Justice League, he was portrayed by Ray Porter, who did a pretty excellent job. However, now that the DCU has been ‘reset’ by The Flash, and James Gunn is laying new ground for the future of it, it’s not unreasonable to imagine that Darkseid could be recast for future appearances. After all, even Superman has been recast for the early stages of the DCU, so anything is possible.

For now, we’ll have to watch this space, but there’s no doubt that Judge would make a phenomenal DC supervillain if given the chance.
