While Netflix isn’t short of bangers when it comes to its selection of TV shows and films, very few hit the same as Mindhunter did.

Following FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, Mindhunter is a crime drama that sees the agents hunt down and incarcerate highly dangerous serial killers, learning from their damaged psyches to catch others. The show is also based on real events and serial killers.

The show ran for two seasons and proved to be immensely popular amongst fans and critics, with the show currently holding a near-perfect score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Aside from gripping storylines and incredible performances from its cast, fans praised how closely the episodes followed the real-life events they were based on, as well as the actors chosen to portray the criminals, many of whom look almost identical to the people they’re supposed to be playing.

In a Twitter thread showing side-by-side images of the criminals and their depictions in the show, fans were blown away by how closely their likeness was captured, saying it was “scarily accurate.”

“They all did a great job,” while another said: “Nah, they reincarnated…”

“I’d give this a 10/10 for how identical they look.”

“Really excellent job casting to look pretty similar.”

This year, co-executive producer of Mindhunter David Fincher revealed there are now plans to bring the series back a third time, stating they were happy with where it ended. Fans haven’t accepted this answer though, and have launched a petition to make a third season happen.

Launched through change.org, the petition has now amassed a whopping 80,584 signatures at the time of writing, with a goal of 100,000 that’s not far off from hitting.

Whether the petition has any effect on the show’s revival is another question entirely, but if Netflix decides to push for a third season, it’s bound to be another smash hit for the streaming giant.
