This decade old film that was recently added to Netflix has rapidly climbed into the global top ten after garnering more than four million views in a week. Subscribers are praising it for its depictions of war.
The Mark Wahlberg-led Lone Survivor tells the story of a team sent out to capture or kill a Taliban leader in June 2005. The film is based on a 2007 non-fiction book of the same name, written by Marcus Luttrell.

Lone Survivor originally released to a warm reception, earning itself 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, though the audience score delivered a higher ranking with 87% instead. A decade on though, it's finding a fresh audience thanks to Netflix with viewers calling it "chilling" and "incredible".

One viewer went a little further saying, "For enthusiasts of wartime battle films, this movie truly stood out. It excelled in acting, direction, stunts, and cinematography. Kudos to everyone involved," which is pretty high praise. The fans of the film are claiming it's a very emotional film with "fear, desperation, and gut-wrenching sadness" at its core.
Directed by Peter Berg, the film also features Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster. Screen Rant is currently reporting that the film clocked in over four million viewers, which totalled up to over eight millions hours watched, between the dates 13 and 19 November. A staggering amount of new viewers who call the film "moving" and believe that the film does "justice" to the soldiers who took on such a difficult task, showcasing their "determination" and "sacrifice".
It's likely that Lone Survivor will continue to pull in lots of viewers over the coming weeks. While the film isn't available to UK Netflix subscribers, it is available to rent and buy from several online retailers including Amazon and Apple iTunes.
