Oh dear. Netflix’s latest cancellation is a big one, and it’s happened before the project could even release.
It’s certainly nothing new for Netflix to suddenly cancel something that everyone’s excited about. We’ve seen it happen time and time again over the years when fan-favourite series have been suddenly shut down, a practice which previously left Fate: The Winx Saga viewers on a permanent cliffhanger ending. Things don’t get much more annoying than that.

Now though, Variety reports that according to a number of its unnamed sources, the streaming giant has now cancelled its live-action Masters of the Universe movie. The film was set to take place on the planet of Eternia and, much like the animated series He-Man & Masters Of The Universe, focus on the clash between He-Man and Skeletor. Kyle Allen (American Horror Story: Apocalypse) had been cast as He-Man himself, and The Lost City directors Adam and Aaron Nee were directing.

According to Variety, around $30 million has been spent on the film already, but some of the publication's sources have suggested that the cost could actually be double that. It’s reported that Mattel is already looking for a new buyer for the film, so it could still eventually release, just not via Netflix. Given that the live-action movie has been on the cards since 2007, it’s really not had the smoothest ride.
On a slightly more positive note, Netflix subscribers can currently get access to two brand new games for free via Netflix Games - Sonic Prime Dash and Oxenfree II: Lost Signals. Sonic Prime Dash is an endless runner platformer, while Oxenfree II is a supernatural narrative adventure, and the sequel to 2016’s Oxenfree (which is also available to play via Netflix Games).
