The new actors for Rick and Morty have been officially revealed, marking the first time the two characters haven’t shared a voice actor.

Rick & Morty, now on its seventh season, is starting to look like it’ll last forever, with some even believing it’ll run as long as The Simpsons, which has over 30 seasons under its belt.

That being said, the ever-popular sci-fi comedy almost left our screens for good, following its co-creator Justin Roiland being dismissed by Adult Swim following accusations of domestic abuse, assault and other charges.

Roiland lent his voice to Rick, Morty and many other characters, as well as starred in another Adult Swim show, Solar Opposites before a court case saw his career crumble around him. The case involved one of his ex-girlfriends, who claimed she was a victim of domestic assault whilst being with him.

All charges were eventually dropped, but the allegations led to Adult Swim seeking a replacement for Roiland instead of re-hiring him, a move that rubbed many fans the wrong way.

We’ve now had our first listen to the replacement voice actors for Rick & Morty, and Solar Opposites, and fans honestly can’t tell the difference. The two new voice actors have also been officially revealed online. Ian Cardoni is now the new voice of Rick Sanchez, whereas his grandson Morty will be played by Harry Belden.

Other characters like Jerry, Beth and Summer will be played by the same voice actors, and there’ll likely be a few more joining the cast to play the various side characters featured in the episodes, many of whom would have likely been played by Justin Roiland if he was still involved.

The latest season of Rick & Morty is now underway, and will hopefully lead to many more, despite the change in voice actors.
