Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 somehow even grimmer than the original

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey is getting a sequel that plans to escalate the gore with chainsaws, oh bother.

Earlier this year, we were treated, or cursed, with a horror adaptation of Winnie The Pooh. Morphing the beloved yellow bear into a killing machine, the film received mixed reviews with some loving it for what it was, and others criticising what was done with the source material.

The plot followed Pooh, and his friend Piglet, years after their close human friend Christopher Robin abandoned them. Robin returns, followed by a group of new characters on a vacation, all of which become targets for Pooh and Piglet's blood lusted rage.

Winnie The Pooh entered the public domain last year, meaning anyone and everyone can use the character for their own projects, though I don’t think many anticipated a gory horror film. Nevertheless, the film obviously proved popular enough to warrant a sequel, and the director has promised more terror, more blood, and more tools in Pooh’s next dark escapade.

In an interview with CinePOP, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield said: "In the sequel, Winnie the Pooh will have a chainsaw … I'm going to introduce that. I'm going to make that happen." It’s definitely a step up from the previous film, which saw him bashing victims with a big hammer instead.

Pooh’s weapon of choice wasn’t the only thing on the directors mind though, as there are plans for additional horror adaptations of childhood classics, like Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. All three films will reportedly be connected to each other, possibly setting up a clash, or team-up between the villains in a future film.

The director went on to say: "The idea is that we're going to try and imagine they’re all in the same world, so we can have crossovers … People have been messaging saying they really want to see Bambi versus Pooh."

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 currently has no release date.
