Two Major PlayStation Franchises Are Returning, Says Insider

Two Major PlayStation Franchises Are Returning, Says Insider

The rumour mill has been churning on what will be shown in a March PlayStation State Of Play.

March has already encroached on us, and so if rumours are to be believed, the day when we get another PlayStation State Of Play is fast approaching. So far two individual insiders have corroborated that March is the month for upcoming Sony based announcements, and since then there has been speculation as to just what will be included.

One that seems likely, is that we will probably see footage of Hogwarts Legacy and perhaps even be blessed with a release date. The game has had a shaky development period meaning that the first and last time we saw it was the 2020 announcement trailer. Yikes!

This cinematic is all we've seen so far of the Marvel's Spiderman sequel

Another possibility is Marvel's Spider-Man 2 getting just a small slice of action. It was last seen September 2021, which is not very long ago, however Insomniac Games have been trolling fans with updates lately. While this could simply be light hearted, with a game this highly anticipated it could hint at something small being shown as development seems to be smooth.

Twitter user AccountNGT has now been hinting at the revival of some classic PlayStation franchises being shown. The account previously correctly predicted Star Wars Eclipse, which is probably not going to see light for a while due to rumoured developmental problems. They also previously tweeted that the event was "definitely" coming this month, and that some returning IPs will see an announcement and release.

Now more recently, they claim that at least two of the returning franchises are Sly Cooper and Infamous. Sly Cooper started out as a stealth 3D mascot platformer on the PS2 with a trilogy of games reaching critical acclaim. It made a comeback in 2013 with Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time but it wasn't nearly as big of a success, and so the series was left alone.

Infamous is a slightly more recent franchise beginning on PS3, however it had a similar end date with the last entries Second Son, and First Light releasing 2014. The series did well throughout its run with interesting new traversal abilities. What's interesting to note is that both series' were developed by Sucker Punch Studios, which went on to work on Ghost Of Tsushima.

This rumour first started back in September with hopes that Infamous would feature in the PlayStation showcase, which it didn't. However, insiders did note that they knew Sly Cooper and Infamous have been in development since at least October. Sucker Punch have also been seen listing jobs for what appears to be a Tsushima sequel, so either they are busy or the work will be done at other studios.
