Warzone 2 is making big changes to the formula

Warzone 2 is making big changes to the formula

According to an insider, players may be unable to buy Loadout Drops in Warzone 2.0.

With all the hype surrounding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s release, it’d be understandable if you forgot that Warzone 2.0 is set to release in just over a week’s time, on 16 November. The free-to-play battle royale title is a sequel to Warzone (obviously) and will feature an enormous new map called Al Mazrah.

At the time of writing, it’s not been officially confirmed if Loadout Drops (the supply crates which allow players to grab their custom loadouts in the middle of battle) are being brought back in the sequel, but as Dexerto reports, one insider is now claiming they are. That in itself isn’t surprising, but apparently, they’ll be seeing some significant changes.

But before we get into it, be sure to take a look at some new gameplay footage from Modern Warfare II below.

According to prominent Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope on Twitter, players will no longer be able to buy loadout drops in Warzone 2.0: “The loadout drop in Warzone 2.0 will be a free world drop,” they wrote. “Loadouts won't be buyable.”

If these claims are accurate, then it sounds like matches in the sequel could play out very differently - currently, players are able to get their hands on their favourite weapons as soon as they’ve racked up enough funds, but this would mean there’ll be a lot more competition, and seemingly no guarantee of getting them. I’m having visions of The Hunger Games when they all scramble for the gear and start fighting each other for it as soon as they’re let loose in the arena.

Well, perhaps it won’t be that chaotic, but it still sounds like a significant shakeup from what players are used to. As with all leaks though, do take it with a pinch of salt until it’s actually confirmed - it won’t be long before we know either way since the game’s release is right around the corner.
