Streaming superstar Felix 'xQc' Lengyel was nearly banned from his new domain Kick, shortly after signing a $70,000,000 deal with the platform.

xQc is a Canadian internet personality, who streams a variety of content to his thousands of fans. His activity typically revolves around playing video games, as his rise to fame came from professionally playing Overwatch, but he also takes part in reaction content, mostly reacting to other creator’s antics and real-life situations and events. His subscriber count is currently sitting at an enormous 11.1 million, with his total views exceeding one billion.

He recently abandoned his previous domain Twitch, where he held the title of the most popular streamer on the platform. He signed a monumental deal with Kick to move to their streaming service instead, which was quickly put in jeopardy when he blatantly ignored its terms of use and streamed a full-movie. The film in question was Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight - a great choice, but not something you should be livestreaming when copyright laws are incredibly strict.

After about an hour of watching one of the greatest Batman films of all time, Kick moderators realised what xQc was doing and promptly intervened, requesting him to stop what he was doing and delete the VOD stream before further action needed to be taken.

The message from the moderators read: “Hello there, we would like to notify you that streaming the specific content is in violation of our DMCA policy. Therefore, we kindly ask you to stop your live stream and be aware that we will need to remove the current VOD containing this content."

Luckily, xQc quickly responded and followed the rules. If the streamer ignored the plea and continued watching the DC flick, he’d have been quickly banned from the platform that had paid a fortune for him to join it, which wouldn’t have been a good deal.
