Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a truly massive game, and certainly far from a perfect one, but it's also really quite good looking.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla may well have its problems, but I'd humbly suggest it's still the best-looking Assassin's Creed game Ubisoft has ever released. Every inch of the fields, forests, and rivers of ancient England are a joy to behold. So obviously that means modders have spent the last few years fiddling with it.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: A Wanderer's Tale is a stunning cinematic reshade mod that takes its inspiration from gritty TV shows like Vikings and the dreary worlds of FromSoftware. Valhalla is, after all, a pretty vibrant and colourful game for the most part - which is why this particular mod aims to make it feel more like a cold, bitter viking adventure.

The result is pretty stunning, I have to admit, and totally changes the tone of Valhalla. If you're looking to replay the game and fancy a very different kind of experience, this mod is definitely the one for you. If you fancy something even meatier, YouTuber Digital Dreams recently released a stunning video showing off the open-world game running in 8K on an NVIDIA RTX 4090 with Reshade Ray Tracing.
The footage in the video, which you can see here, was captured on an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with a Samsung EVO 970 SSD and 32GB of DDR5 RAM at 6000Mhz. In other words, the game would probably destroy the average PC if you tried to run it looking this good.
It's certainly a great time to be an Assassin's Creed fan, what with Ubisoft really doubling down on the series. This year we have the back-to-basics Assassin's Creed Mirage to look forward to, while 2024 offers Assassin's Creed Red and mobile spinoff Jade. Beyond that? So much more.
