Call Of Duty 2025 bringing back Black Ops 2's best multiplayer maps, says insider

Call Of Duty 2025 bringing back Black Ops 2's best multiplayer maps, says insider

Are the multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 next in line for a remaster?

It should come as no surprise that the video game industry is already talking about Call of Duty in 2025, after all, Activision has treated us to a near-yearly release since the birth of the series in 2003 on PC.

This year, we already know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is this year's release, the third entry to the MW reboot series that began in 2019. Much like its two rebooted predecessors, Modern Warfare III will be modernising its story and so too will its multiplayer offering.

Check out the Call of Duty: Black Ops II trailer below!

In terms of the Modern Warfare III multiplayer, it will feature all the original maps from MW2 (2009), remastered giving fans of the series a heavy dose of nostalgia and memories of being blasted in the back running the narrow alleyways of Favela.

However, perhaps following in the footsteps of Modern Warfare III by offering a generous helping of nostalgic goodness, the Call of Duty release in 2025 will apparently include the best maps from Black Ops II.

According to a Call of Duty insider named El Bobberto, it is claimed that whatever the official name of 2025’s entry will be, it will feature remastered maps from the popular game from 2012.

Obviously, these are unconfirmed rumours, so we should take them with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. At launch, Black Ops II included these 14 maps: Aftermath, Cargo, Carrier, Drone, Express, Hijacked, Meltdown, Overflow, Plaza, Raid, Slums, Standoff, Turbine and Yemen.

At this time there’s no indication whether Call of Duty 2025 will feature the maps included in the Black Ops II expansion. We suppose a good indication of whether that will happen or not, is if Modern Warfare III adds the maps from MW2 (2009) at a later date.

If Call of Duty 2025 does include additional maps as DLC, it could feature the likes of Nuketown 2025, Cove, Detour, Dig, Downhill, Encore, Frost, Grind, Hydro, Magma, Mirage, Pod, Rush, Studio, Takeoff, Uplink and Vertigo.

In recent news, fans are threatening to refund pre-orders due to a controversial AI announcement, and a Call of Duty collection is available now on Steam for a whopping £728!

As for the more immediate future of the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has a release date of 10 November for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
