Call Of Duty Warzone 2 is finally fixing its god-awful Gulag

Call Of Duty Warzone 2 is finally fixing its god-awful Gulag

Infinity Ward has confirmed that 1v1s are returning in Warzone 2.0's second season, finally fixing the controversial Gulag changes.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has been a mixed bag so far. Despite all the hype for the sequel pre-launch, the reality hasn’t been quite so sweet, and many players have been thoroughly unhappy with the title.

Popular CoD streamer Dr Disrespect recently called Warzone 2.0 “the worst Call of Duty ever”, and he’s far from its only critic. The game has been given a “mostly negative” rating as a result of its user reviews on Steam, and many have uninstalled it altogether.

Take a look at some of the very best wins and fails from the original Warzone below.

In particular, the sequel’s changes to the Gulag have proven to be controversial. Back in the original Warzone, fallen players were pitted against each other in a 1v1, and the winner would get a second shot at life. However, the sequel changed this to a 2v2, which not everyone has been happy about. If someone’s partner disconnects, for example, the remaining player is put at a very unfair disadvantage, and not all opponents are going to show mercy and go for the AI-controlled Jailer instead (which would send everyone back into the match).

Anyway, the good news is that the devs have listened to these complaints, and 1v1s are finally making a comeback. Over on Twitter, Infinity Ward wrote: “1v1’s are back in Battle Royale. Gulag updates are coming in Season Two. We’ll be sharing more details about this in next week’s studio blog.”

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the second season of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 is being delayed until 15 February. At the time, the devs noted that they’d “been making several changes based on what we have heard from our player community”, and clearly alterations to the Gulag were included in this.

With that said, it’s just a few more weeks to go until Season Two commences - Ranked play is also being added back in, which is sure to go down well.
