Daredevil: Born Again has been put on hold for a second time

Daredevil: Born Again? More like, Daredevil: Shut Down Again, due to production delays caused by the ongoing Writer’s Guild of America strike.

That’s right, Daredevil fans can’t seem to catch a break as production of the MCU soft-reboot has been shut down once again because of the strike. The upcoming Disney+ series is essentially a revival of the cancelled Netflix show which concluded its third and final season in 2018. Born Again will softly-reboot the series, with a new storyline but keeping many of the actors fans know and love, like Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D'onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher.

Daredevil and Kingpin both made their MCU debuts prior to the new series, in Spider-Man No Way Home and Hawkeye respectively, with Daredevil returning in the Disney+ show She-Hulk. Now, their own show, which boasts a whopping 18 episodes, has been delayed once again. Production halted once before last month due to picketing outside the New York studio it was being filmed at. Production slowly started moving again shortly after, but has now been halted once again for the same reason.

This means the production has faced two delays in three months of filming, which is worrying considering the show has only been given 8 months to film all of its episodes.

Hopefully, a resolution can be reached quickly for writers unhappy with their pay, though I wouldn’t hold your breath. The last major strike in 2008 lasted over 100 days, whereas the current strike has only been happening for a few weeks, meaning it’ll likely be a while before it’s resolved.

Daredevil: Born Again isn’t the only Marvel show that’s been affected by the writer’s strike, as Deadpool 3 is also facing severe delays, and Tom Holland is no longer sure Spider-Man 4 will go ahead as planned.
