Disney Announces Hayden Christensen’s Return To Upcoming 'Ahsoka' Show

Disney Announces Hayden Christensen’s Return To Upcoming 'Ahsoka' Show

Production is said to start in early 2022, so we'll wait eagerly for photos from the sets then.

Ahsoka, the upcoming Star Wars show centring on the grey Jedi who stole the hearts of countless fans, will bring Hayden Christensen back to the galaxy far, far away.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the announcement after rumours were running rampant that the actor would reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the near future. It turned out that Christensen would be coming to the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and playing Darth Vader once again, and there was even some possible concept art doing the rounds of what the villain might look like.

Spoiler — it’s not too flattering. Of course, Obi-Wan inflicted severe injuries on Anakin in their battle on Mustafar and left him to die there. The Emperor then collects his apprentice to revive him in the now-iconic life-sustaining black suit of armor, and viewers might get a glimpse of the human underneath the imposing silhouette of Darth Vader.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is on its way super soon, bringing brilliant blaster battles, side-splitting references and a beautiful open world - check it out below!

However, seeing that Ahsoka is set five years following Darth Vader’s death, it’s likely that Anakin Skywalker will appear in flashbacks to the character’s past. Ahsoka was Anakin’s padawan and the two struck up a strong friendship owing to their shared traits of confidence and the desire to protect others at any cost to themselves. Anakin even resurrects Ahsoka at one point in the animated The Clone Wars show after she becomes corrupted by the dark side of the force.

With their complex and ultimately heartbreaking relationship brought to fresh faces as well as stalwart fans of Star Wars, this will add depth to these aforementioned stories and the Ahsoka show. Plus, it’s going to be great to see Hayden Christensen step into the shoes of his most famous character once more.

Disney is remaining tight-lipped on details about Ahsoka, though there is the exciting confirmation of a crossover event between this show, The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic. We’ll hold onto our hats for the time being because production kicks off in early 2022.
