Hayden Christensen returns as Anakin Skywalker in new Ahsoka trailer

Star Wars fans can rejoice, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role of Anakin Skywalker once again for the new Ahsoka series.

Star Wars fans can rejoice. Hayden Christensen will reprise his role of Anakin Skywalker once again for the new Ahsoka series.

A new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars show gave us a closer look at what we can expect when Ahsoka releases on Disney+ service later this month.

Take a look at the new trailer for Ahsoka below.

Featuring flashy lightsaber duels, live-action versions of Star Wars Rebels characters and our first proper look at the antagonist, Admiral Thrawn, it seemingly had something for everyone in what it teased. However, one moment stood out amongst the rest, and it was none other than Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker giving Ahsoka some friendly words of advice.

As we all know, Ahsoka was Anakin’s Padawan during the events of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated show. In the final two seasons, the duo went their separate ways when Ahsoka left the Jedi Order, only to temporarily return to The Republic to face Darth Maul in the final season. The Ahsoka vs Maul storyline took place during the events of Revenge of the Sith, where Anakin betrayed the Jedi, became Darth Vader, and helped The Empire rise to power. They crossed paths again in Star Wars Rebels, where they fought and separated for the last time before the events of the original trilogy.

While Ahsoka takes place several years after Rebels, as well as the original trilogy, it seems Anakin will return in some capacity, likely a flashback of some kind. Fans have already begun speculating if the scene will simply be a voice in Ahsoka’s head, or if we’ll see Christensen in the flesh as an Anakin amidst the Clone Wars.

It’s obviously not the first time he’s come back either, as he returned as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, where he also played a flashback version of Anakin during a training session between the two Jedi.

Only time will tell, but one thing is certain, given the history between the two characters and how their friendship came to a devastating conclusion, that episode will likely be a real tear-jerker.

Ahsoka launches on Disney Plus on the 23 August.
