Gamers Really Want A Remake Of 'The Witcher’

Fans over on Reddit have been discussing their hopes for a Witcher 1 remake, and everyone thinks it's a good idea.

Is there anything in the world of gaming that’s more contentious than the concept of remakes? Look, gamers aren’t an easy crowd to please even at the best of times, but things go to a whole new level when you start talking about remakes. 'Why are they remaking this game and not the one that I specifically wanted?' 'Why does this remake play like a modern game and not like the old game it rebuilt?' 'Why are people enjoying the thing that I’m not?!'

You get the picture, and if you’ve spent any time at all on the internet in recent years, no doubt you’ll have seen argum-, sorry, discussions like that before, too. However, it seems like gamers over on Reddit are united at the minute in the thought that a remake of the first Witcher game is a really good idea.

While you're here, be sure to check out this amazing step-by-step creation of a Geralt figurine below.

The topic was first brought up on the r/Witcher subreddit by Moon_Devonshire: “As it stands for PlayStation users, they literally only have access to The Witcher 3. The final game in the trilogy. Kinda sucks jumping straight into the final game doesn't it?” they wrote. “It's incredibly dated and is only available on PC for that matter.”

Others in the thread have basically been in unanimous agreement: “It really does. I love The Witcher but I just can't bring myself to play [through] the first game as it is now. I'd honestly pay full price for a modernised version with some more [convenient] features[,] but most of all better controls,” said kommanditbolag. “I have to imagine someone over at CD Projekt has worked out a plan for a Witcher 1 remake. If there was ever a time to do it, it is now. Hype for The Witcher has never been higher,” wrote gilbes.

The Witcher first released back in 2007, and is often considered quite a slog to play through these days, especially when compared to The Witcher 3. I’m sure most people would be inclined to agree that it’s probably quite a bit more worthy of a rebuilt version than some significantly newer games that are rumoured to have remakes in the works at the minute, like The Last of Us and Until Dawn, but obviously this is all just fan discussion at the minute. Take note though please, CD Projekt Red.
