Apex Legends' eighth season - can you believe it's been eight seasons? - kicks off next month, along with a brand-new Legend and, of course, plenty of new content to get stuck into.

Apex Legends Season 8 - Mayhem is available on all platforms from 2 February. The update introduces the game's 16th Legend to the arena: Fuse, a "laid back explosives enthusiast" from Salvo that joins the fight with a wealth missiles, grenades, and plenty other tricks and tools that go boom.

You can learn more about Fuse's backstory in the stylish new reveal trailer below. As you can see, our new fighter lost his arm during an accidental-but-not-really-accidental scuffle with a lifelong frenemy.,. not that this has stopped him from strapping on a prosthetic and riding into battle to kick ass all the same.

In addition to Fuse joining the fray, we'll be getting two new weapons in the form of the 30-30 Repeater and a lever action rifle. Developer Respawn Entertainment has also promised that Season 8 will "shake up Kings Canyon once again" for the iconic map's third major overhaul. No details on exactly what this shake up will entail as of yet, but we've still got two weeks to go until Season 8 officially drops - plenty of time for Respawn to throw a few more surprises our way.

Previous Season 8 leaks point towards a new deathmatch-inspired game mode, and there's even rumours of a ranked solos mode. Respawn has famously never been a fan of the idea of a permanent solos mode as they believe it's against the spirit of the team-based battle royale, but this latest anniversary season could be the perfect time to offer something markedly different.

With the launch of Season 8 just around the corner, we won't have too long to wait to see what's in store for the future of EA's battle royale.
