'Fall Guys' Developer Confirms Anti-Cheat Measures Are Coming Soon

Slamming down the bean hammer.

I truly do love Mediatonic's colourful battle royale Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. it's fast, fun, and infinitely more accessible than all the other war-based battle royale titles out there. That's why it's such a damn shame that cheaters and hackers are slowly but surely ruining the experience for everyone.

The beautifully simple idea behind Fall Guys is that any one who picks up a controller to play - whether it's for the first or hundredth time - has a chance of coming out on top. It's nothing like Warzone or Apex Legends, which rewards lightning-fast reflexes and months of training. Yes, there's an element of skill involved, but the chaotic nature of the game usually means anything can happen. That's the whole point.

Obviously this isn't the case when cheaters get involved. Whether they're using hacks to increase their speed or even fly straight to the end of an obstacle, giving yourself an advantage in such a family-friendly game is such a dick move. It's like playing Hungry Hungry Hippos with your little sister while making sure that your hippo is on an incline.

The good news is that Mediatonic is aware of the problem and has been for some time. In fact, a recent update shared to Twitter confirmed that the studio will be implementing the same anti-cheat software found in games like Fortnite. It remains to be seen exactly how much of a difference this will make to keeping the rotters out of Fall Guys, but it sounds like a positive step in the right direction.

Fortnite makes use of something called Easy Anti-Cheat, which is the same software used by games like Apex Legends and Rust. These titles still have problems with cheaters, but nothing like as substantial as the stuff going on in Fall Guys right now. A lot of players on PC are reporting seeing cheaters in as many as one in four games, which is ridiculous.

Hopefully this is just the first step to weeding the cheaters out once and for all so that we can all go back to enjoying a much fairer version of Fall Guys... at least until a team game derails any chance you had of winning, of course.
