'Fall Guys' Developer Shares Pathetic Excuses Sent In By Banned Cheaters

Just... take the hit, man.

As you've probably seen, Fall Guys developer Mediatonic has been taking direct action when it comes to tackling cheaters. Since launching last month, what's supposed to be an accessible and fun battle royale has become the wrong kind of chaotic, as hackers have started to infect more and more games.

Given the frequency with which these cheaters appear, you've probably seen a couple yourself. Hacks that enable players to run faster and jump higher are giving them an unfair edge, ruining the game for everybody else. Some players on PC are reporting seeing cheaters in as many as one in every four games, which is ridiculous.

The good news is that Mediatonic is cracking down on it. In an update earlier this week, the studio promised that it will soon be enabling the same anti-cheat software used by games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, which should result in a pretty powerful whack of the old ban hammer. In the meantime, the studio has been doing what it can... leaving the game's community manager Oliver Hindle to treat us to some of the pathetic excuses many of the exposed cheaters have sent to Mediatonic in an attempt to get unbanned.

While Hindle can't share the emails themselves for obvious reasons, he was able to give us a glimpse at the kinds of excuses the studio has been receiving in a lengthy Twitter thread. These range from outright denials and shifting of the blame to straight-bargaining. One of my favourite parts of the thread reveals that some cheaters actually try to convince Mediatonic that they were helping them by showing up flaws in the system. There's a logic to that, I suppose.

Other excuses are less imaginative. Many will simply blame a younger sibling or spouse, while others suggest they don't know how to use a computer and that they downloaded cheat software completely by mistake. As we all do at some point in our lives, obviously. I fully urge you to have a read of the entire thread, because there's some gold in there. It almost makes the sheer amount of cheaters in Fall Guys worth it. Almost.
