Far Cry 6 is looking pretty darn tasty, from what we've seen and heard so far. I mean, yes, it's a politically charged experience set on an open-world island in the grip of a punishing dictatorship, and that first P-word is absolutely likely to have some ignorant gamers frothing at the mouth. But, c'mon, people - have you even played a Far Cry game before?
We've sampled some of the game for ourselves - check out our gameplay video below - and reported on its developers consulting with real-world guerrilla fighters, and how its star Giancarlo Esposito brought his own props to the set. Very professional... I think? We also know that this Far Cry will be the biggest Far Cry yet in terms of its map size - but now comes news of something else, that'll certainly please fans of Far Cry 5.
As GameSpot reports, a recent Reddit AMA from developers and publishers Ubisoft has revealed that Far Cry 6's campaign will, like its predecessor, be playable in co-op. Alexandre Letendre, the game's director, confirmed that Far Cry 6 will allow solo-mode players to invite their friends into the game, so that they can tackle the challenges of Yara together. At least, the challenges that come rushing towards you with guns and knives and stuff. The politics, probably, will take a more nuanced solution.

Letendre wrote: "Yes, Far Cry 6 will come fully playable in co-op like FC5. Tell your friends, it's a lot of Far Cry fun." We're all friends here, right? So consider this us telling you that Far Cry 6 will, indeed, be a lot of Far Cry fun.
We should see more of Far Cry 6 during the Ubisoft Forward event on June 12 - possibly even gameplay of this co-op campaign play in action. The game is released for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, PC, Stadia and Luna on October 7, 2021 - and yes, you can pet the dog.
