Netflix's The Witcher is a very good thing for a variety of reasons. The eight-episode first season does right by the source material, bringing Andrzej Sapkowski's celebrated fantasy novels and short stories to life on the small screen like never before (we can all forget about The Hexer, now).
Secondly, it's got a lot more people into the video games also inspired by Sapkowski's books - but then, there's no bad time to get on board with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, its predecessor Assassins of Kings, and the in-world card game of Gwent (you can leave the first game alone, really).
And thirdly, there's 'Toss a Coin to Your Witcher', the social media smash-hit of late-2019, the spawner of a thousand parodies and awful, *just awful*, metal cover versions. The song, sung in the show by the character Jaskier (aka Dandelion), played by actor Joey Batey, became an unavoidable viral sensation after its airing in episode two.

Composed by Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli, the Batey-voiced 'Toss a Coin' was added to Spotify after much demand on January 22nd - yesterday, at the time of writing these here words. And tomorrow, again at the time of writing, The Witcher's presence on the music-streaming service is going to get a lot bigger.
The Netflix show's soundtrack - well, 'volume 1' of it, anyway - debuts on Spotify on January 24th. Exactly how many tracks it'll run to, we're not sure yet - but it'll make for a great partner to the expansive Witcher 3 OST that's already on there. I've been known to dip into it on occasion, during the working day; spinning my mind back to the peaks of Skellige and the swamplands of Velen. What a game, really. And speaking of Skellige...
Anyway, the full album of The Witcher Soundtrack Vol. 1 comes to Spotify tomorrow, January 24th, as confirmed by the show's official Twitter account. Will you be wrapping your lugholes around it? I know I probably will, as I begin the long wait until season two of the show - now in production - rolls out in 2021.
And if you're yet to sit down with The Witcher - which stars Henry Cavill as the titular monster hunter Geralt, Anya Chalotra as the sorceress Yennefer, and Freya Allen as Ciri, a child of both surprise and prophecy - perhaps you'd like to check out our need-to-know guide before pressing play on episode one. As if there's one fault with The Witcher, it's that it's set in a complicated world, and structured in a fashion that will throw more than a few viewers off. Stick it out, though, and it's really something special.
And in related news, Netflix has also confirmed that it's producing an animated/anime film based on The Witcher franchise, called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (the wolf, in this instance, referring to Geralt). Read more about that, here.
