Twitch has been struggling with a surge of content on its platform that it doesn't seem to know how to control. But as with any set of rules on internet spaces, there will be those who push the boundaries only to find a clear line of when content goes too far. This has been the case for two streamers, Indiefoxx and Amouranth, who have been publishing sexualised content onto the platform, making them pretty controversial figures these last months. And now the former streamer, real name Jenelle Dagres, has received her sixth ban of the year.
The Twitch ban system, ordinarily, is viewed as a three-strike system, with the final one resulting in a permanent ban for both the channel and the streamer making the content. If you spend enough time being well behaved, it might be the case that early bans will be dissolved - but that normally takes longer than a year. But Indiefoxx has now received six bans since January 28, 2021 - with the next five falling on February 1, February 23, April 7, June 19, and now June 29.
Here are some of our favourite livestream wins and fails...
The streamer's latest suspension length is currently unknown, and it's not clear what offence was committed to receive it. As Dexerto notes, the ban that Indiefoxx got earlier this month, on June 22, was for her ASMR yoga legging streams, which involved the streamer lying in stretching positions while licking a microphone. Both Amouranth and Indiefoxx were banned to discourage this behaviour.
Upon Amouranth and Indiefoxx's bans, another huge streamer, Félix 'xQc' Lengyel, commented that he thought these bans were a "double-standard". The streamer had been through situations where he had made mistakes on Twitch that almost led to him being permanently banned from the site, such as showing a man's genitals as he was being arrested by the police.
Indiefoxx's ban will likely be a few days in length, possibly up to a week, as Dexerto has confirmed this is not a permanent ban on her content. She has not yet commented on her latest ban.
