Halo fans watching The Last Of Us are wondering why their game's adaptation was so bad

Halo fans watching The Last Of Us are wondering why their game's adaptation was so bad

What might have been.

With over two years in development, suffering dropouts from significant collaborators and obstacles out of the pandemic, The Last of Us was awaited with bated breath by its fans. Fortunately, the first episode has been a huge success and now considered to be one of the best adaptations of a game ever.

As such, Halo fans are congregating in what I could call reverence for The Last of Us. It's not a secret that Paramount's Halo show, though epic and explosive, missed many marks of what the fans wanted from an adaptation of the classic shooter series. And, while the director of The Last of Us Part 2 said that the show may surpass the quality of the original game, one of the creators of Halo wasn't complimentary towards last year's show. “I never said I didn't like it. It's just so different than the Halo I helped make - like it's a different universe,” explained Marcus Lehto. I think the most important thing to take away from that indictment is what Lehto isn't saying.

Here's what we can expect to see in the subsequent episodes of The Last of Us!

Over on Reddit, a post about "Halo fans watching The Last of Us and imagining how good the Halo show could've been" has gotten over 70,000 upvotes. "It's almost like people are happy when you follow the source material," said ThunderStruck115 sarcastically. Indeed, the Halo show had no intentions of becoming a canon entry into the series yet this didn't work in its favour.

"Our hope as creators is that, over a long-form television series, that decision to go through some discomfort in the first season will pay off in the long run," said actor Pablo Schreiber. There is a second season in development which will be utilising all forms of feedback from fans, positive and negative, to steer the direction of the show. Perhaps this time round, Halo will have its lightning in a bottle moment.
