Harry Potter reboot: Voldemort casting is a hit with fans

Harry Potter reboot: Voldemort casting is a hit with fans

Fans say that Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy would make a perfect Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series.

As I’m sure you’re all aware at this point, last week, it was confirmed that Harry Potter is getting the reboot treatment, and reaction has been very mixed.

The original seven books are being reimagined in the form of a “decade-long” TV series on Max (formerly known as HBO Max). J.K. Rowling will be an executive producer on the series, which has already prompted many to announce that they’ll be boycotting it - the author continues to face criticism for making harmful remarks about the trans community, and numerous gamers also decided not to buy Hogwarts Legacy so not to support her. However, when asked if he thinks that the controversy could make it harder to cast the series, the chief content officer of HBO and Max, Casey Bloys, said: “That’s a very online conversation, very nuanced and complicated and not something we’re going to get into.” He added: “Our priority is what’s on the screen.”

Meanwhile, many fans are wondering what the cast will even be like for the show, since every character is going to be played by a new actor. Not everyone is on board - Nymphadora Tonks actress, Natalia Tena, said that she thinks that “it’s terrible”.

As LADbible reports, others are already busy suggesting potential new faces for the series, and many believe that Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy would make a perfect Voldemort. One fan edited a photo of the actor to make him more closely resemble the Dark Lord, and others agree that he fits the role surprisingly well.

“I don’t hate this surprisingly,” one fan wrote. “He might be interesting as Voldemort, I can actually see it,” another commented.

At the time of writing, Max remains tight-lipped on the show’s actual casting, but it’s sure to break the internet whenever anything is announced.
