Lord of the Rings fans: prepare your wallets. LEGO has announced a new LotR set, and it could be a very expensive one.
Over on Twitter, the official LEGO account posted a teaser for the set: “‘And now at last it comes. Time to see the journey through. What is now in pieces. Will be built anew.’ Will you be able to resist?”

Attached to the tweet is a one second clip of the One Ring being dropped to the ground, and eagle-eyed fans will have quickly spotted that there’s more to it than first meets the eye. In the reflection of the ring, the new set can be seen, and it definitely looks like it’s going to be a good one.

As Brickfinder reports, based on a series of leaks, it’s thought that this will be a Rivendell set, which could heavily feature the Council of Elrond. According to these leaks, the set will include a number of minifigures - although it’s not known what characters these will be based on. Additionally, it’s rumoured that the set could release on 1 March and cost in the range of $500, so it doesn’t sound like it’s going to come cheap.
It’s an exciting time to be a LEGO fan. Last month, the winner of LEGO and Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons competition was announced - contestants were challenged to create LEGO dioramas in celebration of D&D’s 50th anniversary, with the winning submission promised to be turned into a real, official set.
