Official D&D Lego set can also be used as a playable map

LEGO enthusiasts and D&D fans rejoice - an official LEGO set is coming, and it can be used as an actual map. Just in case it wasn’t cool enough in the first place.

As PC Gamer reports, in October 2022, a competition was launched as part of a collaboration between the Dungeons & Dragons creators Wizards of the Coast and LEGO, which challenged fans to create their own LEGO dioramas in celebration of D&D’s 50th anniversary. The winner of the competition would have their creation turned into a real, official set, so the stakes were high. After the judges selected five top submissions from the initial stage of the competition, fans were able to vote for their favourite, and the winner has now been announced.

Behold the glory of Dragons Keep: Journey’s End. Submitted by BoltBuilds (real name Lucas), the stunning build boasts a huge tower (complete with a large green dragon on its exterior), tavern, dungeon and crypt, and was constructed using less than 3000 pieces. According to the designer, the set “features great routes with [changeable] doors each time to always have a story with different goals to tell”, which, as PC Gamer points out, means it can be used as a fully-functional D&D map. Take my money.

The level of detail is absolutely incredible, although LEGO has given a disclaimer that the design isn’t final, so there could be some changes made to it before it reaches shelves. It’s not known exactly when it’ll be available to buy, but it looks like it’s going to be a popular one. BoltBuilds will be credited for their work in the set materials, and will also receive 1% of the total net sales of the product (as well as 10 complimentary copies of the set and a package of goodies).
