Palworld update met with fan backlash, devs forced to apologise

Developer fixes bug, fans get mad, developer apologises

The developers of Palworld, Pocket Pair Inc. have had to apologise to fans after they patched the game and removed one of the more challenging and fun aspects of fighting the bosses.

In a recent patch, Palworld got a plethora of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, however, it also changed a situation where players were able to catch bosses in tower battles. Players were enjoying the ability to catch bosses like Zoe and Grizzbolt in Pal spheres and saw it as “an achievement” rather than a problem with the game. Sadly, Pocket Pair Inc. didn’t feel the same way and removed the exploit.

Palworld is still riding the waves of success with over 25 million players

Taking to Twitter, the developer addressed the situation with an apology that may or may not be tongue in cheek, saying “As a result of various bugs that we fixed in the most recent patch, a bug that allowed players to capture the tower boss was unintentionally fixed. We apologize for inadvertently fixing a bug.”

Thankfully, those who managed to capture a boss character before the patch can keep their captive and do what they will with them, but it’s been nixed as a possibility going forward. Palworld, known for its satire and humour, could have chosen to keep the bug as a feature, but the developers have said it’s a bug and bugs get squashed.

This comes after several instances of Palworld appearing in the news again as Pocket Pair Inc. commented last week on the dip in concurrent players. The developer said they were fine with players going off to play something else as they know they will come back. Contrary to this, the game also celebrated 25 million players overall, split over Xbox Game Pass and Steam, with the latter taking the lion’s share of the player base. There should be an update to Palworld soon as the game starts out on its roadmap for early access.
