There are many classic The Lord of the Rings video games we’d love to see remade and returned to their previous splendour, one of which is the iconic Lord of the Rings: Conquest.
The 2009 action fantasy epic is firmly cemented in many minds as an all-time classic, yet there are few ways to play it today. There are some websites that will allow you to download the game for free, but the likes of Steam are surprisingly barren when it comes to this game.

We appreciate that, for many fans, the PS2-era LOTR games are considered S-Tier, but Conquest is up there with the best of them despite releasing on the PS3. Don’t overlook it as a great simply because it launched on a (then) newer model.

Praise be, then, that an enthusiastic team of talented fans have given us what we’ve all been craving: Lord of the Rings: Conquest remade in stunning Unreal Engine 5 glory. It truly is a thing of beauty, so much so that, while we’re grateful to see it, we’re sad that it isn’t an official game.
“Jeez, this is what one would expect for a AAA title,” declared one fan, before adding how “excellent” it looks. There are numerous other comments much to that effect, praising the attention to detail that the creators have put into this stunning mod.
“Considering that the team is working purely out of their enthusiasm, I see this as astonishing progress. Really looking forward to that day when they complete [the] full game,” posted another. Yes, you don’t need to go far to find steadfast praise for the incredible work the team has done.
Our dying wish (we’re putting it in early) is to see this game become a reality, either through a fully-fledged version of this mod or from EA itself. We don’t ask for much, only that we live long enough to see it become a reality, a hope we share with another fan who put it best: “Please lord, let me play this game before I die.”
