PlayStation 5 owners warn there’s one thing you should never do near your console

You don't need to be a PlayStation 5 owner to know that taking care of your console is advisable.

Common sense comes into play here. Yet, you'd be surprised what you're doing in your house that could be harming your precious PlayStation 5. Obviously, you can't easily avoid serious bugs that stop you from accessing your purchased titles simply by keeping your console safe, but you'll definitely ensure your console will tick over for a few more years yet.

Owners who smoke might want to rethink that decision, as not only is it not "ideal" for your lungs, it's also not great for your PS5. When you think about it, though, is this really surprising? Many gamers think not, yet the OP who started the conversation, brought it up after they raised concerns about smoking around their new device.

"Smoking is just as bad for electronics as it is for humans," explained a user responding to the original query. They then added, "Maybe even worse. A computer can't cough. The tar just sticks to it and builds and never leaves the system." It isn't just the gunk that builds up, though, there's also the issue of yellowing the pristine white of Sony's tech.

"You'll yellow the plastic of any electronics you have much faster. Plastic that's been kept in a smoker's environment holds on to that smell for a very, very long time [...] Save your lungs, save your PlayStation. Don't smoke in the same room as it, at least."

It's important to add the caveat that you could smoke around your console for years and never experience problems, such is the fickleness of electronics. Still, by eliminating one damaging variable, you improve the chances of problems being kept at bay.
