Millions of fans were eagerly awaiting the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, but now there are fears the game has been cancelled after the trailer has been scrubbed from social media.
I don't mind saying I'm a bit gutted that Knights of the Old Republic might be cancelled. The original RPG is one of the best Star Wars video games of all time. Many players consider it to be a masterpiece, so everyone lost their minds when a remake was announced and a trailer dropped during a PlayStation showcase in 2021.

Now, however, it seems the trailer is being taken down or made private across social media. An optimist might say 'maybe they just have a new trailer coming', but the game has made headlines because development has been very rocky, which means cancellation is more likely. Constant delays and changes in the development team haven't made things easy for the remake.

Initially spotted on Reddit, fans noticed that it's not just the trailer that has been removed, but even any mention of the game. Fans are, understandably, quite distraught. KOTOR was an important game for many; lots of gamers found a love for RPGs due to the game. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Bioware, KOTOR set a standard not just for RPGs, but also for IP adaptations. The sequel was a banger, too.
A lot of Redditors are quick to blame Embracer who, after a spate of buying seemingly every other video game developer, is now selling studios, folding others and nuking projects. One Redditor says "Everything regarding Embracer, except for the massive projects being made at established studios, is in jeopardy."
Most of the comments share a similar reaction of bewilderment with one reading, "It's Star Wars, one of the biggest media franchises in the world - and it's KOTOR ... This game, if done well, would be guaranteed money."
