Starfield has only been out for a day via early access and it’s already the most-viewed title on Twitch, surprising no one.
Bethesda’s highly-anticipated sci-fi game, Starfield, is finally out for early access adopters, and it’s wonderful. We described it as “an interstellar playground exceeding all expectations” in our review, which should check out if you haven’t already, and it looks like critics and fans are in agreement.

Despite a few bumps in the road, like PlayStation fans demanding the game be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox fans demanding the game should be playable in 60fps, and a minor crisis about how open the worlds actually are for exploration, the game is exactly what most players expected. That being said, the Metacritic score is surprisingly low, though it’s still beating Fallout 4.

Once the game was finally unlocked and playable, thousands have fans have dived straight in, many of which have cheekily taken a few days off work to do so, in what can only be described as one of the biggest game launches of the year.
In a not-so-shocking twist that everyone saw coming, the game has skyrocketed to the top of Twitch as its most-viewed game, currently holding around 350,000 viewers, but recently peaked at 500,000.
The high numbers are likely a reflection of those who didn’t pay for the premium edition of the game, which grants early access, and are patiently waiting for the game’s official release on the 6th of September, also included on Xbox Game Pass.
Top streamers sharing their gameplay with the masses include Shroud, CohhCarnage, AnnieFuchsia, and Jabo, the latter of which is currently undergoing a challenge to visit all 1,000 planets in Starfield’s galaxy.

Overall, Starfield has had a very successful early launch, meaning this year’s Game Awards will be a very interesting watch. With Starfield, Baldur’s Gate 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom all releasing in the same year, it looks like 2023’s Game Of The Year award will be a battle between RPGs.
Starfield can currently be played for those who purchased the Premium Edition but will be released for everyone else on the 6th of September for PC and Xbox Series X/S
