Steam fantasy RPG is a must try for Hogwarts Legacy fans

Steam fantasy RPG is a must try for Hogwarts Legacy fans

If you enjoy Hogwarts Legacy's cosier elements, including the Room of Requirement, you're going to love Wonder Wandelier.

Hogwarts Legacy may have been snubbed at the industry’s various awards events, but it was undeniably one of the most commercially successful games of 2023.

In fact, according to Google, it was 2023’s most searched-for game. It’s easy to see why. Hogwarts Legacy was the Wizarding World game Harry Potter fans had been dreaming of, finally granting the opportunity to truly explore Hogwarts castle. While it’s by no means a perfect game (its open world is a tad too obsessed with caves and ruins), it does lay the foundations of a solid franchise. A sequel is yet to be confirmed, or even an expansion for that matter, but if you’re itching for another magical fix, you may want to keep an eye on the upcoming Wonder Wandelier.

Enjoy a tour of Hogwarts’ four house common rooms below.

Wonder Wandelier is certainly not a game made on the same scale as Hogwarts Legacy but this upcoming delightful indie does replicate the same kind of ‘cosy magic’ you find in Hogwarts Legacy, particularly if you were someone who enjoyed the laid back nature of the Room of Requirement. Developed by Mushroomallow, Wonder Wandelier sees you assume the role of an apprentice wandmaker trying to graduate from school.

The synopsis reads, “Manage your store, gather materials, and craft magic wands to sell to customers. Haggle to get the best price and build reputation as a wand maker in this chill magic wand-shop simulation RPG.” You can actually try the demo on Steam right now totally for free although devs do note that the demo build is missing several features including the game’s narrative.

This will be held back until the game’s full launch, although there’s no harm in trying the demo to see if you gel with the mechanics. As the young apprentice Pucelle, players will obtain resources, manage their shop, study their customers, seek hidden treasures, venture into the unknown, and engage with wildlife (some creatures being friendlier than others). It sounds utterly wholesome and I look forward to diving in when the game launches in 2024.
