Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s Steam players continue to fall

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League hasn’t been the continuation of the Batman: Arkham games fans had hoped for.

When Rocksteady announced a new game set in the “Arkhamverse” would give players control of the Suicide Squad in an open-world looter shooter fans were understandably skeptical. Since the game’s launch it’s been met with a muted response from fans and critics, with our review saying it's actually fun gameplay couldn’t save the repetitive missions and lacklustre story.

Poor reviews aside, it’s clear players are quickly losing interest. Once you’ve beaten the alarmingly short main story the only thing left is side content and raids, though Rocksteady has promised more content will be added over time. This includes new missions, characters and story expansions, the first year of which will be free.

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like players will be sticking around to see any of it, as the game’s concurrent Steam players are dropping like flies.

According to the latest stats the game hit an all-time peak of 13,459 players. Since then the game has retained an average of over 1,000 which is far from ideal for a live-service game. In fact all the disappointment around Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has somehow led to a surge of purchases and players for Batman: Arkham Knight, though to be fair it is a vastly better game.

Ultimately it seems like Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is destined to die a death, especially if player numbers continue to dwindle over the next few months. The only hope it has now is if PlayStation and Xbox sales/concurrent players are any better, especially since it has crossplay multiplayer.
