The next-generation of Xbox consoles is reportedly in development, and is rumoured to be the “biggest technical leap ever.”

I\m sure many would argue that the current generation of video game consoles has barely even begun, but for better or worse it seems Microsoft and Sony are keen to move to the next one as soon as possible.

We interviewed the cast of the live-action Fallout show to see who they’d snog, marry and irradiate if they were trapped in the wastelands, check it out below.

Sony has already confirmed the PlayStation 5 is entering the latter stages of its life, and leaked reports indicate a new, pro, models of the PS5 and Xbox Series X are to be released later this year, the last revisions they’ll get.

Now a leaked email shared via WindowsCentral indicates Xbox is already hard at work on the new-generation, including how it’ll integrate AI.

The leaked email allegedly came from Xbox executive Sarah Bond, and read: “We are innovating in Gaming AI, focused on delivering player-first, developer-first value for discovery, engagement, and creator velocity."

It went on to say it’ll be the "the biggest technical leap ever in a generation.”

What this exactly means is still speculative, but it seemingly implies the next generation of consoles will use some form of AI to upscale the graphics, creating more impressive visuals and smoother gameplay for players to enjoy and developers to work with.

Other rumours suggest PlayStation is doing something similar but for in-game NPCs, as it’s said the company is planning on using AI to bring in-game characters to life with more life-like reactions and behaviour.

For the time being fans should take this news with a pinch of salt, but given the steady advancement of technology over the past few years it seems fans have a lot to look forward to with the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
