Xbox Series X has an amazing setting that you've probably never turned on

I confess that I rarely tend to dive into my console’s settings. I may do so from time to time if it’s related to capture sharing or my network, but I can’t say that I’ve thoroughly investigated to see the full breadth of what the Xbox Series X/S has to offer.

I know I’m not alone in doing so though. As of late, Xbox owners have been making a ton of discoveries that prove just how helpful your console can be. For example, if you’re a late night gamer, there’s a related helpful feature that’s going to prove to be a god-send. The Xbox Series X/S also boasts a massively useful PS5 feature that’s strangely turned off by default. The good news is though that you don’t have to spend forever and a day trawling through your settings to find out what may be of use - because we’re here to help. Today, I have a handy tip for those of you who own a voice-based digital assistant.

By that I mean the likes of Amazon’s Alexa, a Google Assistant, and so on. What you can do is actually link your smart device to your console opening up a wealth of useful voice commands for you to utilize. To do so, you’ll want to enter your Xbox Series X/S’s console settings and locate the Devices & Connections menu. From here, you need to locate the option that reads ‘Enable digital assistants’.

Then, simply follow the on-screen instructions to link your chosen device. You can then ask your smart device to turn on your Xbox console or turn it off, in addition to capturing screenshots or gameplay clips, running searches, ejecting discs, commencing a broadcast stream, launching games, connecting devices like controllers … essentially most things you can think of.
