There are a lot of fantastic video games that for whatever reason may have flown under our radar to then be forgotten in time and one game that perhaps fits into that category is Sleeping Dogs.
Published by Square Enix, Sleeping Dogs was initially released in 2012 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before receiving a Definitive Edition two years later for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition came equipped with improved visuals and all previously released DLC.

On the aggregate website Metacritic, the original version of Sleeping Dogs scored a very respectable 80, while the Definitive Edition scored slightly less with 77. In a nutshell, Sleeping Dogs can be described as a martial arts-inspired Grand Theft Auto set in Hong Kong. The game is fantastic and I wholeheartedly recommend it, even though Square Enix never deemed it sequel-worthy.

“This game should have had a sequel. I don’t know why Square Enix hadn’t done it” replied a begrudging herewego199209. “I have no idea how this game failed when it’s hard to find someone who didn't replay it and harder still to find someone who disliked it,” said a bemused Thorn-of-your-side.
“It was one of the few games that captured the Hong Kong atmosphere instead of it just being a backdrop for the story,” explained EnamoredAlpaca. “The writing was very good and it had just the right amount of comedy.” As you can imagine, much of the Reddit thread shares a similar sentiment.
