Arriving on PlayStation 5, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an "enhanced and expanded" version of the acclaimed action role-playing game, bringing a whole host of visual embellishments and introducing a new character into the fray.

Yuffie Kisaragi, the sixteen-year-old Materia hunter aiming to restore her homeland to its former glory, is a divisive character in the Final Fantasy fandom. In the original game, it was possible to ignore Yuffie completely, and that's what a lot of people did due to her rambunctious personality and comparative weakness in combat. Square Enix isn't leaving the girl on the benches this time, and in the PlayStation 5 upgrade for Final Fantasy VII Remake, she'll star in her very own episode. From the looks of it, these events will let players step into Yuffie's shoes and the storyline seems to occur simultaneously with the exploits of Cloud and company in the core game. Oh, and Yuffie's wearing a Moogle costume for the majority of the Integrade trailer.

With regard to the graphical wizardry that's been applied in the new version, players will look forward to increased "expressiveness of the game's lighting, texture, and environment," thanks to the souped up specs of the console. Those who are snap-happy will be delighted to learn that the Photo Mode will let them enjoy every angle of the dilapidated industry of Midgar. There is also a "Graphics Mode" and a "Performance Mode" to peruse: the former focuses on delivering 4K resolutions and the latter prioritises consistent frame rates at 60 frames per second. Last but not least, Integrade will offer unprecedented levels of immersion in Final Fantasy VII Remake with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense. Grand.

"Those who own the physical or digital PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and want to experience the PS5 enhancements can upgrade to the PS5 version at no extra cost," explained Sony in its announcement post, and fortunately, save files from the PlayStation 4 will transfer to the PlayStation 5 version. "PS4 players who upgrade will still need to purchase the new episode featuring Yuffie separately." Integrade will launch on June 10th.
