Players are still discovering new secrets in Bethesda's Skyrim

Skyrim is easily one of the most popular video games of all time which is why to this very day, fans cannot get enough of Tamriel and are even still discovering new secrets.

Originally released in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has since been ported to multiple platforms including the most recent PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Yet you’d think by now that players would have discovered all there is in Skyrim, well, you’d be wrong if you thought that.

“The next chapter in the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls saga arrives from the makers of the 2006 and 2008 Games of the Year, Bethesda Game Studios. Skyrim reimagines and revolutionises the open-world fantasy epic, bringing to life a complete virtual world open for you to explore any way you choose,” reads the synopsis of the game.

Whether it's villages, settlements, high mountain tops or sinister cults, a lot is going on in Bethesda’s forever-popular fantasy RPG. There’s also a lot to discover beneath the surface of Skyrim. If you can survive the hordes of walking skeletons or giant spiders, you may even discover some glorious loot making your latest expedition all the more worthwhile. This brings us to today’s topic of discussion.

“Are there any places you didn’t know existed in the game?” asked Redditor to fellow members on the thread. “I’ve been playing Skyrim for years - different characters and playthroughs, and I’ve never seen this place until my most recent playthrough. It was a pretty cool dungeon with some interesting enemies.”

As indicated in the screenshot provided in the Reddit thread, the dungeon in question is located beneath a fort in Harmugstahl, said to be found in the northeast of Markarth and to the west of Solitude. The Reddit thread responded with their own discoveries in the world of Skyrim.

“For a few years I had no idea there was anything in the mountains south of Helgen and Falkreath, besides that moth priest cave and the dragon mound,” explained No-Egg-1026. Angi’s camp, Southfringe Sanctum, Bloodlet Throne and Fort Neugrad are all places I had no idea existed.”

“Arcwind Point - I kinda missed it for a long time since it's deep in the Jerall Mountains and you only see it on your compass when you are strolling around near Froki's hut or the Rift Imperial camp,” said GreyWizard1337. “I just found Red Water Tavern or whatever the place is called, freaked the life out of me and I’m fine never finding it again in my future playthroughs,” exclaimed DiagonalDrip.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
