Star Wars Outlaws release date may be sooner than you thought

The galaxy doesn't seem so far, far away

Ubisoft is gearing up for the release of Star Wars Outlaws with a story trailer set to premiere on Tuesday 9 April. It’s usually around that time that we would hear of the release date which has, until now, seemed far, far away.

It’s not only the story trailer that has us thinking we’ll see Ubisoft announce the release date, but branches of Gamestop have started advertising their preorders, which means they have the release date in hand. So, Star Wars Outlaws could be here very soon meaning we might not be waiting until the end of the year.

Star Wars Outlaws will be the first foray into the franchise for Ubisoft

Star Wars Outlaws has already been rated in several countries which tends to start the hype train rolling, and fans are excited. The game will attempt to become the first truly open-world Star Wars title - that won’t take hundreds of hours - giving players many new places to explore and discover. Not only will we be traversing new planets, but there will be lots of opportunities to fly throughout the stars and engage in ship-to-ship battles.

This proves to be a new direction for the Star Wars franchise as we won’t be controlling a Jedi, but more of a rogue character, Kay Vess, who flouts the laws of the galaxy for profit. We already know we’ll come up against outlaw rivals and factions while we attempt to make our way in the world, and that our decisions will weight heavily on Vess and those around her.

There’s a sense that Star Wars Outlaws will be a whole new direction for us to enjoy, with a wanted system for when we commit the biggest crimes, as well as building a reputation among thieves and society at large. All we can say is, roll on Tuesday so we can find out when we’ll be playing. It can’t come soon enough.
