A new update is ready

Bethesda’s Starfield has recently received a new update bringing with it a lot of fixes, as well as a couple of new features. It’s great to see the developer still putting out updates and patches in the hope of creating a more stable game, and it’s clear that Bethesda is doing all it can to bring fans back.

The list of fixes is huge - it would take a long time to pick through them all. Suffice it to say, that a lot of the changes will allow for a smoother experience, but we want to focus on the new features.

Starfield took the well known Bethesda RPG template to outer space.

Once you’ve downloaded the update, which is available now, you will find several changes. First up is a set of new options for photo mode that allow you to set your character's pose and expressions. This will hopefully lead to some amazing shots taken in-game. Next up, you can now open doors and harvest materials while your scanner is in your hand. This was causing a lot of frustration among players.

Perhaps the best change is to digipicks; you now won’t lose a digipick for using the ‘undo’ option when lockpicking. This will save a lot of hassle, especially when you’re running low on equipment. A nice addition of an autosave when travelling from a planet’s surface into orbit will help players who want to micromanage their goals and performance.

You’ll also notice that a change to the Ship UI will improve your framerate, plus there’s added support for the FOV slider when in a third-person ship view.

Starfield had a very rocky start and many players and critics had mixed opinions on the game. Thankfully, improvements are being made to bring performance and content to where they need to be. Bethesda hopes that these features and fixes help to stablise the game.
