Sucker Punch Has "No Plans" To Return To Sly Cooper Or Infamous

In an official statement released by the studio, it was revealed that there are no games in development for either of the beloved series.

So, there goes that dream. We’ve been hearing rumours for some time now that two of PlayStation’s most beloved franchises, Sucker Punch ProductionsSly Cooper and inFAMOUS, could be making a comeback on the PS5, but that’s definitely no longer the case.

It was only late May when we last heard from a well-known insider that a new Sly Cooper game could be announced in 2022, but unless we’re about to get thrown the biggest Uno Reverse of all time, say goodbye to your hopes for that. As reported by IGN, a new statement released by Sucker Punch has confirmed that there are “no plans” to revisit either of the franchises, or at least, not immediately.

Sucker Punch Productions' most recent game is Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut - take a look at the trailer below.

“As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio,” they wrote. “With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either. These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.

“We know many people still play these games even today, so we’ll be performing maintenance on inFAMOUS 2 UGC servers soon to move them to a new home that will keep them up and running a bit longer,” they continued. “We will eventually need to sunset these, but want to keep them running for as long as possible for players who are still active.”

That’s a bit sad, isn’t it? At the very least, the statement doesn’t rule out either of the series being revived in the future, but we can certainly consider any existing rumours and leaks well and truly dead.
