'The Batman' Gets Stunning Unreal Engine 5 Game Demo

Superheroes are the names on everyone’s lips at the moment, with films such as The Batman making big bucks at the box office

If we mix that with the fact that Epic Games recently revealed that the Unreal Engine 5 is now available to all developers, it was never going to be long before someone mashed the two together. The latest Unreal Engine has made so many improvements to game development technology. The way the technology has improved, it's now difficult to tell the difference between in engine models, and the real world.

If you want to see the original demo for The Matrix Awakens in Unreal Engine 5 you can check it out in the video below. And yes, that’s all CGI.

As spotted by DSOGaming, modder JSFILMZ has used the “Mega-City”, as seen in The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine tech demo, and has inserted Gotham’s protector into the mix. JSFILMZ has not only added in Batman and some enemy models, but has also shown combat much like the fighting we’re used to from the Arkham games.

While the environment looks just as gorgeous as in the above trailer, the caped crusader still needs a little work. His cape phases through his body and the combat looks a little basic and clunky. Still it’s exciting to see what the engine is capable of, and what fans are trying to design.

JSFILMZ has not said whether he will continue with the project or whether this tech demo was all he was hoping to achieve. Either way, many big studios are now turning over to the latest engine, including for huge franchises such as Tomb Raider and The Witcher. If this is the work that one man can achieve, then we are eager to see just what some of the bigger studios can create.
